Muku Ramen in Frankfurt stands out as a clean, hip, and modern Japanese restaurant situated in the vibrant city of Frankfurt am Main, specifically in the Sachsenhausen district. Despite its name, Muku Ramen offers more than just a typical ramen restaurant experience; it presents itself as a tapas bar with a delightful twist. While the name suggests a focus on ramen, the restaurant offers a wider array of options for guests to indulge in. However, ramen remains a star feature of the menu, with five different variations available.

To complement the tantalizing food options, Muku Ramen boasts an impressive selection of Japanese sake. Sake enthusiasts and novices alike will find delight in the diverse range of choices available, allowing them to pair their meals perfectly with their preferred sake.

Menu
For those seeking a rich and robust flavor profile, the Muku Ramen is an excellent choice. It features an intense and cloudy soup, made from a savory pork-chicken broth on a Shoyu base.
The Yamatani Ramen, on the other hand, offers a milder and lighter option for those who prefer a more subtle taste. This ramen features pork chicken and dashi broth, which adds a delicate umami flavor without overpowering the dish.
Fans of the classic Tonkotsu ramen will be delighted to find it on the menu at Muku Ramen. This ramen stands out due to its cloudy soup, which is achieved by simmering pork-chicken broth over an extended period.
Tsuke Men is a delightful preparation that showcases cold noodles, exquisitely paired with a piping hot soup for dipping. At Muku Ramen, this remarkable dish is prepared with a delightful combination of pork-chicken broth, resting on a Shoyu base.
The Furifuri Men at Muku Ramen is a culinary masterpiece that revolves around the luscious marriage of chicken oil and shoyu, commonly known as soy sauce. The star of this dish is undoubtedly the marinated noodles, which add a satisfying texture and flavor to the Furifuri Men.
Visits and Orders
During my visit to Frankfurt am Main on November 18th, 2022, I had the pleasure of dining at Muku Ramen. Arriving at the restaurant during lunchtime, I noticed that there were already a couple of people there, indicating its popularity among locals and visitors alike. However, I was fortunate enough to secure a seat without having to wait, as there were still a few available.
Muku Ramen – 無垢ラーメン
I had the pleasure of thoroughly enjoying their signature dish – the Muku Ramen. This popular dish left a lasting impression on me, and I must say that the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
The noodles in the Muku Ramen were undeniably delightful. They had a remarkable texture – thick and substantial, but not overly heavy or starchy. The noodles were cooked to perfection, maintaining the ideal level of firmness. It possessed a slight creaminess, which added an extra layer of richness to the overall flavor profile. The taste was hearty and intensified, owing to the blend of chicken and pork broth, with a shoyu base.
The toppings at Muku Ramen truly elevate the dining experience. The spring onions add a refreshing and aromatic touch, while the spinach nori provides a delightful texture and earthy taste. However, the hero of the bowl is undeniably the Chashu – a thinly sliced and lean pork that is both flavorful and tender. Each slice effortlessly melts in your mouth, creating a harmonious balance with the rich broth.

Muku Ramen is conveniently located in the bustling area of Sachsenhausen, just a few minutes away from Frankfurt am Main’s city center. It is conveniently accessible by public transportation, with the S-Bahn station “Lokalbahnhof” only a short 6-minute walk away. For those preferring to travel by tram or bus, the “Frankensteiner Platz” station is conveniently located directly in front of the restaurant.
One might find it a bit challenging to spot Muku Ramen from the outside as there is no writing or logo visible on the facade. The windows may appear dark, giving the impression that it is not open for business. However, do not be discouraged, as the restaurant is indeed open and ready to serve you a delicious bowl of ramen.
Whether you prefer traditional table seating or the lively energy of counter seats, Muku Ramen has an array of options to accommodate your preferences. One cannot help but be captivated by the luxurious allure of the counter, which stands prominently at the forefront. Behind the counter, a well-stocked and stylish bar awaits, ready to serve an array of refreshments to complement your ramen. Something is captivating about witnessing the dynamic kitchen in action, as it offers a partly visible glimpse into the culinary craftsmanship taking place behind the scenes.

Muku Ramen in Frankfurt is not exclusively a ramen-centric restaurant. While they do serve a range of delectable ramen bowls, their menu extends beyond this traditional Japanese dish. Though not the absolute best ramen I’ve ever had, Muku Ramen undoubtedly achieves a pretty good level of taste and quality.
Noodles ★★★☆☆
The noodles here are a bit thick and not watery, giving them a good taste. While the noodles were undoubtedly delicious, there was nothing particularly exceptional about them.
Soup ★★★☆☆
One of the standout features of Muku Ramen is their commitment to using homemade noodles in their dishes. I sampled their signature tonkotsu ramen, and I find its intense and creamy flavors tasty but not surprising. It may be great to try their other soup offers for a final judgment.
Location ★★☆☆☆
Nestled in a prime location, this eatery enjoys easy access as both train and tram stations are in proximity. Upon entering, I was struck by the clean and modern interior design, which is not typical in a ramen-style restaurant. The decor and lighting created a relaxed environment for an enjoyable meal with friends or family.
